Lisa’s E – News
March 3, 2004

Dear friends, R.W. went back to Amarillo for his quarterly cancer tests this past week. We are pleased to let you know that everything came back clean. We praise God that He continues to wrap His protecting arms around our family. As we all know, the more we attempt to spread the word of the Lord, the more incentive the devil has to try and stop us – but God is on our side and we will prevail. As for you, our fans, a spirit of thankfulness doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about all of your support. We love you and ask that you continue to keep both R.W. and our family in prayer for protection over our travel and health.

AWA Nominations are Due!
Time got away from us this week, but we want to remind all of our Western Music and Poetry fans that the deadline to nominate your favorite artists for the annual Will Rogers Awards show is Thursday, March 4th!

Awards are given for Western Music, Western Male and Female Vocalist, Western Group, Entertainer of the Year, Western Swing Group and Individuals, Cowboy and Cowgirl Poets, etc…. There are also categories for Albums, Songs, Books, Videos, as well as radio Disk Jockey and Station of the Year, Western Artist, Spur Maker, Saddle Maker & more.

Anyone can nominate – you do not have to be a member of the AWA. But in order to make the “short go,” each artist, album, etc. has to have 5 nominations for the category they are eligible in. If you haven’t taken the time to go to the AWA’s site and e-mail your nominations, we encourage you to do it before Thursday night’s deadline. While you are there, if you feel inclined to nominate R.W. for any of the following, he is eligible for: Western Music Male Vocalist, Western Music Album for 2003, Entertainer of the Year, and song of the Year (has to be from the Troubadour Album).

** The site address for the Academy of Western Artists is: http://www.awa-awards.org/

From their main menu choose “Nominate” for the form and to see the categories.

But it looks like you have to submit by e-mail at this point.

You can go directly to the form by clicking on this link: http://www.awa-awards.org/nominate.html

Troubadour
Sales on Troubadour are still going well, and it looks like we are re-ordering again! I appreciate all of the stores you folks have sent our way lately, and with the potential of distribution to major chains like Hastings and Virgin Records, etc. coming soon, it should be even easier to find this album in your own neighborhood. But, if you still want to order directly from our office, our price is $15.00 per CD plus shipping (and tax if you live in NM). (TR is available on CD only). Shipping is $5 for the first 4 items and $1 for each item after that. For NM residents the sales tax is 5.625% of the total sale. Don’t forget when you order that we also carry Brenn Hill, Joni Harms, Trudy Fair, Rich O’Brien, and Dan Roberts, so give us a call and stock up on your cowboy music.

Upcoming Dates

March 11th - 14th Cedar City, UT
Canyon Country Roundup and Western Arts Festival
This will be R.W.’s first appearance at the Canyon Country Roundup and we’ve heard so much good stuff about this festival that we are sure you will love it too. Located just north of Saint George and Kanab, this is a part of Utah that we love to find a good excuse to visit! Since most of the concerts R.W. has done this year have been sold out in advance, this would be a great opportunity to see him over the course of several days. Thursday starts off with a dinner for the local Block and Bridle Club and then the weekend is full of activities, various stages with music as well as the big night shows. Go to www.westernartsfestival.org for more information; I’ve heard tickets were selling quickly. You can also call 1- 800-354-4849 for tickets and information.

March 27th Santa Clarita, CA 7:00 PM only
Santa Clarita’s Annual Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival

He will have the Burson Family and Dennis Mack backing him up as a band again for this ticketed performance at Santa Clarita’s William S. Hart High School Auditorium. Be sure to get your tickets early for this one and let Santa Clarita know how much you appreciate them having R.W. as the headliner this year. Tickets for this concert are selling quickly so don’t forget to call and reserve yours…..

Then Sings My Soul Tour & Upcoming Album
As I said last month we are putting together a tour of dates in April through June that will feature R.W.’s cowboy gospel music – focusing on the Then Sings My Soul album and music that will be recorded on his second gospel album this summer. We still have dates open, so if you have an email address or phone number for a pastor, church or cowboy group that would be interested in helping us coordinate and promote a date in your area, please let us know. This will be a special chance to have R.W. in many rural areas. Our deal – you don’t charge admission and we won’t charge a fee! Obviously we can only offer this for a short time or our kids might not have a roof over their heads, so please help us make the most of these months and reach as many fans and friends as possible. This is our way of saying thanks for all you have done for us this past year. I am currently coordinating the dates and tour schedule.

The new album project is right on track so far. R.W. has already begun studying songs for it and Hollie and I have been busy working on the overall budget, locating sponsors and designing the layout for the CD jacket, etc. Many of you have made requests and suggestions for this album over the past years, please feel free to remind us, we welcome the input. Our target date for release is fall of 2004, so it looks like a busy summer ahead.

The Wrap Up
Well, that about sums up what we have in the works this month. Please be sure to check out the web-site and pass along the concert dates to your friends who don’t get our e-mail updates!

If you want to write to us, the address is below, but please make sure your subject line is descriptive or says “attention Lisa”, otherwise it might get deleted. And if you want to be removed from this list please let us know! We hate SPAM too!
