CHRONICLE OF THE OLD WEST
A waterhole for Old West Enthusiasts

Horace Greeley wrote, “Go west, young man, and grow up with the country.” During the 19th century adventurers, homesteaders, pioneers, emigrants, cowboys, Civil War veterans and free slaves did just that.

By 1890 the Bureau of Census declared the American frontier closed. In just forty short years, from 1860 to 1900 the “wild west” had come and gone. The heyday of such legends as Jesse James, Crazy Horse, Billy the Kid, Wild Bill Hickok, Geronimo and Wyatt Earp was just a memory.

Although “the frontier” is now paved highways and track homes, the object of Chronicle of the Old West is to return you to the time of wild men and strong women with a monthly newspaper that contains reprints of 1800’s articles and current articles written as if the event had just happened. So you will have a better feel of the Old West, each edition contains events that took place during that month.<

As you experience Chronicle of the Old West, we ask that you let your imagination go.
