An exclusive
copyrighted design based on an original 1881 US map by S.A. Mitchell. Overlaid
on this gorgeous
map is the track of the fictional Lonesome Dove Cattle Drive
to Montana as described by Larry McMurtry in his epic
novel. Included are
simple notes defining the major events of the drive. The Chisholm, Great Western,
Goodnight~Loving, Shawnee and the other major overland cattle trails are
also overlaid in their correct positions.
This is a very powerful and informative
map.

Using
Antique maps to illustrate and supplement other teaching materials can be very
useful. Antique maps are much more interesting since they were published at the
real time that historic events were happening. And with their diversity they are
definitely much easier and more fun for the student to look at. They also contain
historic content that modern maps just don't show.
Each
Texas or US History Slide Show map set contains over a dozen antique maps that
have been selected to correspond to significant time periods in the historical
development. They have been arranged by time line from earliest to latest. These
maps are described on the Slide Show control page. The Texas map set has a simple
script included that may be used as a guide. It can be printed or copied
to a word processor.
The CD runs on any Windows® 98SE PC or later and is portable,
requiring no installation. It does not run on on Macintosh computers. This CD
will not run on Windows 95 or NT or on a Mac or Linux computer without
a Windows emulator.
